Terms, policies and disclosures
Last updated October 2026. These policies apply to services offered under the NearProx name. NearProx is an assumed (fictitious) name of Capital Global Explorer, Inc., registered with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC ID 07586043, filing no. 26101010575347, effective October 10, 2026). Licensed trade work is performed by Capital Global Explorer, Inc. If anything here seems to differ from the fees shown on our main policies, the main policies and the written price you confirmed apply.
Terms of Service
Who we are. NearProx is an assumed (fictitious) name of Capital Global Explorer, Inc., registered with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC ID 07586043, filing no. 26101010575347, effective October 10, 2026). NearProx offers a last-minute help service in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and nearby Maryland (Montgomery and Prince George's Counties near DC); some services are Virginia only. Errands, visits and companionship are done by the founder or a vetted runner. Electrical, plumbing, home improvement, remodeling and other licensed trade work is performed by Capital Global Explorer, Inc., licensed contractor.
Eligibility. Customers must be 18 or older.
Requests and prices. A request through the website, text message (SMS), phone call or WhatsApp is not a booking. We send an all-in price before work starts; nothing is booked or charged until you confirm the price and pay through a secure link. Labor prices are all-in with no separate service fee. Purchases are at cost, with receipts. Surcharges (priority ×1.5, rush ×2, night ×2) apply to labor only, only the highest applies, never on purchases, visits or trades, and are off in any area under a declared state of emergency. Trade services may include a travel fee of $50 per 10 miles from Haymarket, VA, beyond the first 10 miles, confirmed with you before work starts. Website estimates are estimates only.
Review, offer and expiry. Every website request gets a confirmation number (NPX-…) and is reviewed within 30 minutes during service hours (8 AM–9 PM ET). We reply by the method you choose (SMS or email): either an offer with the final price and a secure Stripe payment link, or a short message declining with the reason. Your job is booked only once you pay. If you decline an offer, the request is cancelled at once. An unpaid offer expires with no charge: 30 minutes after we send it when the start is less than 3 hours away (ASAP/priority); for same-day jobs, 2 hours after we send it or 1 hour before the start, whichever is earlier; for later days, 24 hours after we send it or 3 hours before the start, whichever is earlier. We send one reminder halfway to the expiry time. Messages are sent by NearProx staff; the website does not send them automatically.
Payment. Payment is only through a secure link. We never accept cash.
What we don't do. See Acceptable use. We may decline or stop any job that breaks these rules.
Scope of services
We do anything lawful that either needs no license or falls within licenses we hold (Capital Global Explorer, Inc.: remodeling/home improvement, electrical and plumbing within jurisdiction). Tasks that require a license we don't hold (e.g. passenger transport, medical or personal care, notary, legal or immigration advice, security services) are declined or referred to a licensed professional. Document courier and agency or embassy/consulate runs are errand work only: forms are prepared by you or your attorney; we do not give immigration or legal advice; third-party submission requires the embassy, consulate or agency to accept it and your written authorization; returns are tracked with photo proof and receipts.
Cancellations and refunds. See the Refund Policy.
Liability. Our total liability for any claim related to a job is capped at the amount you paid us for that job; see Limitation of liability.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. See Dispute resolution. Questions about these terms: care@nearprox.com. (Lawyer review recommended for all policies on this page.)
Refund Policy
Errands and hourly services
- Within 5 minutes of booking, before the runner leaves: free.
- 24 hours or more before the scheduled start: free.
- After that, before the runner is on the way (or 2–24 hours before start): 25% of the job minimum, at least $25.
- Runner on the way, or less than 2 hours before start: 50% of the minimum.
- After arrival, or no-show (we wait 10 minutes and try 3 times): full minimum plus extra time, purchases and costs.
Visits (Home Watch, house sitting, Social Visits, companionship, pet visits, vacant-home checks)
- 24 hours or more before: free.
- 2–24 hours before: 50%.
- Less than 2 hours, or no access: 100%.
- Nobody answers at a Social Visit: no fee — we start a welfare check.
Trades
- VA/DC estimate visit ($150): free if cancelled 24 hours or more before, $75 under 24 hours, $150 if no access. MD estimate: always free.
- Booked repair ($150 minimum) or urgent call-out ($250) in VA: free within 5 minutes of booking or 24 hours or more before; 25% before the technician is on the way; 50% once on the way; 100% if no access.
- Contracts signed at your home or after an in-home visit can be cancelled within 3 business days (see below), with a full refund within 10 business days to the original card via Stripe.
No fee when
- We're more than 20 minutes late; we change the quote or the job needs something we can't do; force majeure; our app or payment fails; a runner breaks our rules or makes you feel unsafe. Fees are waived on request after a medical emergency or a death in the family.
Rescheduling
- One free reschedule per booking, at least 2 hours before. If a moved booking is later cancelled, the higher of the two fees applies.
3-business-day cancellation (home solicitation)
If you sign a contract at your home, or after an in-home visit or other face-to-face solicitation away from our place of business, you may cancel within 3 business days under the FTC Cooling-Off Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 429) and applicable Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia home-solicitation laws (when they apply). Tell us in writing (email care@nearprox.com or text/call +1 (703) 398-2988) within that period. We give a full refund of amounts you paid for that contract within 10 business days of receiving your cancellation. This right does not apply to every online/remote booking; it applies when the cooling-off rule's conditions are met.
Unpaid offers
An unpaid quote/payment link expires automatically under the timing rules above. No charge is made if you let an offer expire or decline it before paying.
Who is refunded, how much, and when
- Who. The customer who paid for the job (the cardholder on the Stripe payment).
- Amount. The unused or cancelled portion under the fee tables above, less any non-refundable purchases already made for you at your direction (those items are handed over with receipts). Home-solicitation cancellations within 3 business days receive a full refund of amounts paid for that contract.
- Timeline. Approved refunds are issued within 10 business days of approval (or within 10 business days of a valid 3-business-day cancellation notice).
- Method. Refunds are issued to the original card through Stripe (Payments → the payment → Refund). We do not refund by cash, check or a different card.
- Status. When a refund is owed, NearProx marks the request Refund due in ops until the Stripe refund is completed.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the original payment method via Stripe, within 10 business days of approval (or within 10 business days for a cancelled home-solicitation contract, as above). Purchases already made for you are not refundable by us once bought, but we hand them over with receipts. Card networks may take additional days to post the credit to your statement.
Optional customer accounts
An account is optional. You can request, pay for and track every job as a guest exactly as before.
How sign-in works. There is no password. You enter your email and we send a 6-digit one-time code that expires after 10 minutes; codes can be used once, wrong guesses are limited and code requests are rate-limited. Signing in keeps a random session token on your device for up to 30 days; "Sign out" ends it.
What the account shows. Requests you sent with the same email address are linked automatically once you confirm that email with a code (and, when we add text-message verification, the same verified phone number). Your account shows those requests' status, quotes, payments and receipts, extra charges, refunds, completion photos and your message thread with NearProx, and lets you reply, save contact details and addresses, and "Book again". You never see anyone else's requests, and nobody else sees yours.
What we store. Your email, the optional name/phone/addresses you save, sign-in times, and a technical index that lets our server open your own job records. This is stored with Cloudflare (our API host, United States) in addition to the request storage described below. Sign-in codes are emailed through our email provider and are stored only as a one-way hash until they expire.
Delete your account. Use "Delete account" on the account page, or email care@nearprox.com. This removes your saved details and sign-in immediately. Records of requests and payments are kept as described below (for tax, payment and dispute purposes), and you can still track them as a guest.
Privacy Policy
What we collect. What you send through our forms, text messages (SMS), calls or WhatsApp: name, mobile phone, email (required for every request), preferred reply method (SMS or email), SMS opt-in consent and timestamp when you choose text replies, ZIP codes, addresses, job details, timing and budget; electronic signatures (typed legal name, drawn signature image, timestamp, terms version and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the agreement text); for runner applicants, the application fields; for the Do-Not-Deliver list, name, ZIP, street address and mobile phone. For sensitive jobs we may ask you to complete Stripe Identity verification (government ID image and selfie collected by Stripe — see ID verification). We use your number and email only to contact you about your request; we don't send marketing texts or marketing emails. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply; reply STOP to opt out of SMS. Payment is handled by Stripe; we don't receive full card numbers. Never send card numbers or passwords.
Biometric data (face comparison). For jobs that need ID verification, Stripe Identity compares the live selfie you take with the photo on your ID using biometric face comparison. Stripe does this, not NearProx: we never receive your selfie, ID images or face data — only whether the check passed. Stripe keeps biometric identifiers for no longer than 1 year, or until you withdraw consent if earlier. See ID verification and How long we keep data.
Where it is stored. When you sign and send a request on this website, a copy (your details, the request and the e-signature record, including signature image when provided) is stored with Wix.com (our website host) in a private database and form inbox that only NearProx can read. Your job thread (request, quote, status updates, messages and proof photos) is encrypted in your browser and stored on our own server on Cloudflare; it can only be opened with your confirmation number and the last 4 digits of your phone (attempts are limited) or by NearProx. Stripe holds payment and Identity data under Stripe's privacy policy. Messages you send by text or WhatsApp stay in those apps.
How we use it. Only to quote, schedule, do and prove your job, to verify identity when required, to handle payments, refunds and safety, and to keep Do-Not-Deliver requests. We do not sell or rent personal data and do not share it for targeted advertising.
Photo proof. See Photo and proof consent. Proof photos and receipts are kept only as long as needed for the job, payment, disputes and legal records, then deleted.
How long we keep data. We keep request, job-thread, e-signature and payment records for as long as needed to do the job, handle payments, refunds and disputes, and meet tax and legal record-keeping duties, then delete them. Proof photos are handled as described in Photo and proof consent. Account data is deleted when you delete your account. Do-Not-Deliver entries are kept so we can keep honoring them. For Stripe Identity: Stripe compares your selfie with the photo on your ID using biometric face matching; Stripe keeps biometric identifiers for no longer than 1 year, or until you withdraw consent if earlier, and keeps the ID images and verification results in our Stripe account (Stripe's default is up to 3 years) unless we delete them sooner — you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Your rights. Consistent with the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, you may ask to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising or profiling (we don't do these). We respond within 45 days. If we decline, you can appeal by replying to our decision. Do-Not-Deliver entries are kept so we can keep honoring them.
Contact. Main office: 10432 Balls Ford Road, Suite 300 (Historic District), Manassas, VA 20109. Email care@nearprox.com (privacy requests, access, correction, deletion and Do-Not-Deliver requests), or call or text +1 (703) 398-2988.
SMS / text messaging
When you choose Text (SMS) as your reply method on our request form and check the SMS consent box, you agree to receive informational service text messages from NearProx (an assumed name of Capital Global Explorer, Inc.) about your request — including quotes, payment links, scheduling, reminders, status updates and related job communications. Message frequency varies with your request. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
Opt out and help. Reply STOP to any NearProx text to opt out of SMS; reply HELP for help. You may also email care@nearprox.com or call +1 (703) 398-2988. After STOP we will not text that number for service messages unless you opt in again. Email delivery of your price and payment link continues as described on the request form.
No sharing or sale for marketing. We do not share, sell, rent or transfer your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data to third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. We use your number only to send the service messages you consented to, and to operate our business with processors who help us deliver those messages (for example an SMS platform such as Twilio) under contracts that limit use to that purpose. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Records. We store your SMS consent choice and the timestamp with your request for compliance (including A2P 10DLC). See also Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
ID verification (Stripe Identity)
For sensitive jobs — home access and keys (for example Home Watch, waiting at home, organizing, walkthroughs, vacant-home checks, realtor, rental and contractor-supervision tasks), DMV title and registration or other power-of-attorney work, process serving, Your Person, and permit filing or licensed trades — we verify the requesting customer's identity before work starts.
- How. We send or show you a secure link to Stripe Identity, operated by Stripe, Inc. You photograph a government ID and take a live selfie; Stripe checks that the ID is genuine and uses biometric face comparison to confirm the selfie matches the photo on the ID. For licensed trade work, this step happens at booking, after you approve the written estimate or contract. Stripe may ask for your email address.
- How long. Stripe keeps biometric identifiers from your selfie and ID for no longer than 1 year, or until you withdraw consent if earlier (see the Stripe Privacy Center). ID images and results stay in our Stripe account (Stripe's default is up to 3 years) unless we delete them sooner; ask us and we will have Stripe redact them.
- Who holds your data. Stripe collects and stores your ID images, selfie and the data read from them under Stripe's privacy policy. NearProx never receives your ID images or selfie in our forms, WhatsApp or email; we see the result of the check (verified or not) and the details Stripe shows us in its dashboard, linked to your job reference.
- Why. To protect you, your home and the people we serve, and to prevent requests made under someone else's name.
- If you decline or the check fails. We can't do that job; nothing is charged for it. No fee is ever charged to you for the verification itself.
- Your rights. You can ask Stripe to access or delete your verification data, and ask us to delete our record of the result (see Privacy Policy).

Photo and proof consent
By booking, you agree that we take time-stamped photos of the task, items, receipts, the place of drop-off and the work done, and send them to you as proof. We photograph things, not people: we don't photograph recipients or bystanders, and we never follow, watch, photograph or locate people. Inside a home, we photograph only what the job needs. Ask us if you want fewer photos or none of a particular area.
Liability, insurance and limitation of liability
Lawyer review recommended for this section.
We take care with every job and work by the rules on this site. NearProx services (errands, concierge, companionship, runner and similar services) are not covered by insurance at this time.
Insurance: Licensed trade work (electrical, plumbing, remodeling) is performed by Capital Global Explorer, Inc. and covered by commercial general liability insurance: $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate (effective October 16, 2026). This coverage applies only to licensed trade work. Non-trade NearProx services — errands, pickup & delivery, DMV and paperwork tasks, gift buying, senior and family visits, Home Watch and similar runner services — are not covered by insurance.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to a job is capped at, and never exceeds, the amount you actually paid us for that specific job. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, special, punitive or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, lost income or loss of use, however caused.
Exceptions. This limit does not apply where the law does not allow it, including for gross negligence or willful misconduct, and it does not take away any consumer rights that cannot be waived. Trade work performed by Capital Global Explorer, Inc. remains subject to its written contract and to Virginia contractor law.
We're not responsible for the condition of items bought at your direction beyond what the seller provides, or for losses caused by inaccurate or missing information you gave us.
Disruptions and force majeure
Events outside our reasonable control can affect a job, including traffic, accidents, vehicle breakdown, severe weather (snow, ice, storms), flood, earthquake, power or internet outages, illness, death, government orders and emergencies. When this happens, we may reschedule or cancel the job without penalty to either side. You pay no cancellation fee, we refund any unperformed portion of the job you paid for, and we have no further liability for the disruption.
Customer responsibility and warranties
The customer who makes a request is solely responsible for that request and for its lawfulness. You warrant that all documents, information, items, addresses and instructions you provide are accurate, genuine, lawful and safe, and that you have the right to request the task. NearProx and Capital Global Explorer, Inc. rely on what you provide without independent verification and are not responsible for the consequences of false, incomplete or unlawful information or documents. To the extent allowed by law, you indemnify us against claims arising from them (see Indemnity). We may refuse or stop any job we reasonably believe is unlawful or unsafe. We do not perform any unlawful task. If a request is made through false statements, concealment, misrepresentation or bad faith, the requester bears full responsibility for all resulting consequences, and we may stop the job without refund of performed work and report as required by law.
Customer responsibilities
- Give us accurate, complete information about the job, addresses, items and access.
- Provide safe access to the place of work (pets secured, hazards disclosed, a safe path in and out).
- Secure or remove cash, jewelry and other valuables before any visit or job in your home.
- Make only lawful requests that follow our Acceptable use rules.
Claims process
If something goes wrong, report it to us within 48 hours of the job, with photos and a short description. We'll review it against our proof photos and receipts and respond in writing. Claims reported later may be hard for us to verify.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NearProx, Capital Global Explorer, Inc. and our runners against claims, losses and costs arising from a prohibited request or from false or misleading information you gave us, to the extent allowed by law.
Dispute resolution
We'll first try to resolve any dispute through good-faith negotiation. If that doesn't work, disputes go to the courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia in Prince William County. Either side may use small claims court where it qualifies.
Severability
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, that part is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest stays in effect.
Disclaimer
We do not give notary, legal, tax, immigration, medical or financial advice. Newcomer help: we read forms with you but never fill them. Personal assistant help is not financial or legal advice. Companionship and Social Visits are non-clinical — not therapy, counseling, nursing or personal care. The pre-purchase contractor walkthrough is not a licensed home inspection under Virginia home inspector rules and doesn't replace one. Insurance damage assessments are not public adjusting; we don't negotiate with insurers. Home Watch and vacant-home checks are not a security service; we never respond to alarms.
Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this site. It is built to work with keyboards and screen readers, on phones and desktops, with clear labels, visible focus and readable contrast, aiming at WCAG 2.1 AA. If something doesn't work for you, tell us through WhatsApp or care@nearprox.com and we'll help you directly and fix it.
Do-Not-Deliver policy
Anyone can ask us not to deliver to them. Send your name, ZIP, street address and (optionally) phone through the form on our policies section or by email to care@nearprox.com. We will refuse any delivery to you — no reason needed. We check every delivery against the list. We don't deliver anonymously or to anyone with a protective order or who doesn't want contact. This list does not cover lawful service of court papers in Virginia.
Runner background-check notice
We never ask about criminal history on our application. A background check happens only after a conditional offer, and only with your written consent on a separate, stand-alone disclosure form, as the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires. If something in the report may lead us to withdraw the offer, we first send you a pre-adverse action notice with a copy of the report and a summary of your rights, and give you time to respond or correct it before any final decision. If we make a final adverse decision, we send an adverse action notice with the consumer reporting agency's contact details and your rights. We consider each case individually. Runners must be 21 or older, have the legal right to work in the U.S., a smartphone, and if driving, a valid license and business-use insurance. Runners are paid 78% of labor and 100% of tips weekly, and never pay us.
Senior protection policy
- Social Visits and companionship are company only: no personal care (bathing, dressing, medication) and no medical advice.
- We never handle cash, gift cards, money orders, crypto or gold, never pay bills, and never give financial advice.
- If nobody answers at a Social Visit, there is no fee and we start a welfare check.
- The person visited can withdraw consent at any time; any paid visit not yet performed is then refunded.
- Runners who break our rules or make anyone feel unsafe are removed from the job, with no fee to the customer.
Acceptable use and prohibited requests
Consistent with our Scope of services, we decline or refer tasks that need a license we don't hold. We don't: drive or carry passengers; do moving, hauling or heavy lifting; do repairs outside licensed trades, locksmithing or towing; cook or serve food or drinks; provide childcare or pick up children; provide personal care; give notary, legal, tax, immigration, medical or financial advice; handle cash, gift cards, money orders, crypto, gold or pay bills; handle alcohol, tobacco, vapes, cannabis, weapons, fireworks, fuel or propane; follow, watch, photograph or locate people, or install hidden cameras; make anonymous deliveries or deliver to someone with a protective order or who doesn't want contact; do anything on airport property (for now); or take orders from or for people in sanctioned countries. We don't do gas work, HVAC, home inspections, pest control, appraisals or property management. We may decline any request, and requests involving an ex-partner or high-value items are reviewed before we confirm.
Electronic signatures
You can sign your request electronically. Under the federal Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN Act, 15 U.S.C. § 7001 et seq.) and the Virginia Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (Va. Code § 59.1-479 et seq.), an electronic signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten one when the parties agree to do business electronically.
- Consent. Before signing you tick a box agreeing to do business and sign electronically. This includes electronic communications by text message (SMS), WhatsApp, phone call, email and this website. You need a device with a current web browser and a mobile phone that can receive text messages (or WhatsApp) to receive records.
- How you sign. You type your full legal name (shown as your signature) and may also draw it. One "Sign & send" click signs the Terms, Cancellation and Refund Policy, Limitation of Liability and, when shown, the limited authorization.
- What we record. Your typed name, the method used, the date and time (UTC and Eastern), the terms version and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the exact agreement text. This record is included in the request message you send us by text (SMS) or WhatsApp, and you can download a signed copy to print or save as PDF.
- Paper copy. You may ask for a paper copy of anything you signed at no charge.
- Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw consent to electronic records at any time by telling us by text, call or WhatsApp; it does not affect anything already signed, and we'll then use paper for future agreements.
- Agency forms. Some agencies require their own signed forms (for example Virginia DMV form VSA 70 or a notarized power of attorney). Our e-signature does not replace those.
Limited authorization and power of attorney
For some services (for example DMV title and registration, permit filing and permit runs, document courier, process serving, contractor supervision, realtor and landlord tasks, newcomer help, insurance damage assessments and trade permits), the request form asks you to confirm:
"I authorize NearProx and Capital Global Explorer, Inc. to act as my agent for the limited purpose of this request, including submitting, picking up or filing documents and applying for permits on my behalf. Where an agency requires a signed power of attorney or form (e.g. Virginia DMV VSA 70, permit-holder letter), I will sign it before work starts."
This authorization is limited to the specific request, ends when the job is done, and can be withdrawn at any time before work starts. It does not replace any signed power of attorney, agency form or permit-holder authorization that the law or an agency requires; we won't start until those are signed. We never give legal advice and never fill in forms for newcomers — we read them with you.
Situations we plan for
These rules apply together with our fees, the Refund Policy and the limitation of liability; none of them adds a new fee. Lawyer review recommended.
Late, no-show, no access or wrong address
We wait 10 minutes and try to reach you 3 times. After that, the no-show / no-access rule for the service applies (errands: full minimum plus extra time, purchases and costs; visits: 100%, counts as used; trades: 100%). If the address you gave is wrong, we contact you; extra time to reach the right address is charged at the job's normal rate, and if the job can't be done the no-access rule applies.
Unsafe conditions
A runner or technician may refuse to start or may leave if they feel unsafe (for example aggressive animals, threats, hazardous conditions, or illegal activity). If the unsafe condition was caused or not disclosed by the customer, it is treated as no access. Otherwise there is no fee.
Harassment or abuse
We may end a job and stop serving any customer who harasses, threatens or abuses our people. Work already performed and purchases already made are not refunded. If one of our runners breaks our rules or makes you feel unsafe, there's no fee — please report it to us right away; we investigate and remove the runner from your jobs.
Property damage and claims
Report any damage within 48 hours with photos (see Claims process). We review it against our proof photos. Any payment is subject to the limitation of liability.
Purchases: substitutions, out of stock, returns, price changes
- If an item is out of stock, we ask you before substituting; without an answer we skip it and you aren't charged for it.
- If the total would exceed your approved purchase budget by more than 10%, we get your approval first.
- Every purchase comes with a receipt, at cost. Returns follow the store's policy; a return trip is a new errand at the normal rate.
- If a purchase is lost or damaged while in our care, our liability is limited as described above.
- Perishables (food, flowers) are delivered as soon as possible; we're not responsible for spoilage after drop-off or if nobody is available to receive them.
Gifts refused by the recipient
If a recipient refuses a gift or is on our Do-Not-Deliver list, we don't leave it. We tell you and return it to you or the store as you choose; the extra time is charged at the job's normal rate. We never insist on delivery.
Payment disputes, chargebacks and non-payment
Work is paid through a secure link before it starts. If a payment is disputed or reversed after work was performed, we share our proof photos and receipts with the payment provider, and we may suspend service until the balance is resolved. We don't add late fees.
Keys and access
Keys, codes and lockboxes are used only for your job, kept secure, never copied, and returned or placed as you instruct. Access codes are deleted when no longer needed. If a key we hold is lost, we pay to re-key or replace it within the limitation of liability.
Pets in the home
Please tell us about pets and secure them unless the job is a pet visit. We don't handle aggressive animals and never take pets to parks.
Children in the home
We don't provide childcare. If children are home during a job, a responsible adult must be present. We won't be left alone in charge of a child.
Seniors and vulnerable adults
No personal care, no financial help, no cash and no bill paying. If nobody answers at a Social Visit, we start a welfare check at no fee. If we suspect abuse, neglect or exploitation of a vulnerable adult, we may report it to Adult Protective Services or the police.
Medical emergencies
If someone appears to need urgent help, we call 911 and tell the emergency contact you gave us. We are not medical providers and are not responsible for care. Fees are waived on request after a medical emergency.
Weather and declared emergencies
Severe weather may lead us to reschedule without penalty (see Disruptions). Surcharges are off in any area under a declared state of emergency.
Vehicle accident during a job
If a runner is in a vehicle accident during your errand, the job is treated as a disruption: we reschedule or cancel without penalty and refund any unperformed portion. Runners who drive carry their own license and business-use insurance.
Photos, privacy and recording
Proof photos are deleted after 90 days unless they are needed for an open claim, dispute or legal requirement. We don't record audio or video of people without their consent, and you may not record our people where the law requires consent.
Third-party vendors and contractors
When we find, schedule or supervise vendors, helpers or contractors for you, they are not our employees and we don't vouch for them; you hire and pay them directly, and their work is their responsibility. Licensed trade work by Capital Global Explorer, Inc. is covered by its own written contract.
Illegal or suspicious items
If we discover anything illegal, dangerous or suspicious, we stop the job, may report it to authorities, and the job is treated as cancelled by the customer.
Sanctions screening
We don't accept orders from or for people in sanctioned countries, and we may decline any request that appears to involve sanctioned persons.
Data breach
If personal data we hold is exposed, we notify affected customers and authorities as required by Virginia law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these policies; the "Last updated" date changes when we do. The version in effect when you confirmed your price applies to that job.
Licensed trade work (Capital Global Explorer, Inc.)
NearProx is an assumed (fictitious) name of Capital Global Explorer, Inc., registered with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC ID 07586043, filing no. 26101010575347, effective October 10, 2026). The following applies to licensed trade work only.
- Who contracts and performs trade work. Remodeling and home improvement (within license scope in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia), electrical work, and plumbing — each only where Capital Global Explorer, Inc. holds the required license for that trade and jurisdiction — are contracted and performed by Capital Global Explorer, Inc. under its own licenses, not as unlicensed errand or concierge work.
- Separate written contract. Trade work is done under a separate written contract with Capital Global Explorer, Inc. That contract, together with applicable contractor law, governs the trade job. NearProx website estimates for trades are estimates until CGE confirms price in writing.
- Insurance.
